We would like to make you aware that the CCG is undertaking a public consultation from 09 October 2017 to 05 November 2017 regarding NHS provision of gluten free foods.

As you will be aware the demands on the local healthcare system have led to a £44million shortfall in financial resources, meaning it is now essential for funding for services to be prioritised to meet the needs of the most vulnerable patients. This need to prioritise resources has led the CCG to review NHS gluten free foods provision in the Vale of York.

The CCG is proposing that all gluten free prescribing is replaced by a top-up card scheme.

The CCG recognises that these proposals will be disappointing to some of our patients. The CCG’s proposals aim to ensure that those patients who are least able to afford gluten free foods are supported in continuing to adhere to a gluten-free diet. The consultation will run between 9 October 2017 and 5 November 2017. Patients, clinicians, and other interested parties can get involved in the consultation by attending the CCG’s face to face event which is being held on Thursday 2 November 2017, 6-7pm, at West Offices, Station Rise York, YO1 6GA. Or by completing the survey which can be accessed online here https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/GFFyork . The survey is also available in alternative formats (e.g. paper version, large type, and other languages) on request.
